First Look: Bob’s Your Uncle Store

1210268662Bob’s Your Uncle is one of those companies that, as true-blooded American Anglophiles, we have no choice but to love: The Fort Point-based home goods company is run by a lovely British couple! The name reflects a Briticism (meaning “everything’s fine”) that’s almost as much fun as “sod off” or “bangers and mash”!

Until now, we were disappointed that the company was a wholesale business—the Fort Point location was simply a warehouse, and only online retailers carried Bob’s Your Uncle products. (We suddenly sympathized with Jonah Hill‘s 40-Year-Old Virgin character…)

Thankfully, owners Martin and Michele Yeeles have taken pity on us and our desire to hand real money to a real person and walk out with real melamine plates and file folders that accurately describe all of our current work projects. A retail version of Bob’s Your Uncle, called Front, is set to open any day in Fort Point. It’ll carry quirkily fun home and gift items designed by the Yeeles(es), local artists, and well-known brands like Chilewich and Thomas Paul.

To recap: British owners support local artists and offer reasonably priced items. You’d be a daft nutter (!) not to stop by.
