Up On the Roof
Bostonista spent last weekend living the high life atop the rooftop garden at the 230 Fifth hotel in NYC. Twenty stories up, we partied like glitterati under the stars, and in the shadows of the Empire State Building. While soaking up the sky-scraping views and open air vibe (they even had red, Hef-inspired robes on hand, in case you got cold!), we wished for more places like this at home.
And there are some places in town that measure up (at least in terms of elevation). So on one of the last few summer weekends remaining, don’t waste your last chance to take your party to the highest level.
Rattlesnake Bar & Grill
You could dine on the rooftop just for lunch or dinner, but we think the people-watching and cocktails are a little more satisfying. Popular with the after-work crowd, your best bet is to skip out of the office early today, so you can get past the doorman for tonight.

One of our top picks for best places to eat al fresco, Ristorante Fiore sits in the middle of the North End, a perfect location for perching over the melee of St. Anthony’s Feast this weekend. Although your chances of getting in are slimmer than a slice of provolone, if you’ve managed to land a table here, hands down, you’ve got the best seat in town.

Go straight to South Beach from the elevator. The glamorous Colonnade Rooftop Pool (RTP) sits 11 stories up among the high-rises, allowing you to gloat down on the city below from a beach chair. Pick up a $30 day pass for today or Monday (excludes weekends), and make a great escape to the oasis in the city. Leave. Work. Now.

Avenue One at the Hyatt Regency opened their rooftop terrace this summer, and it’s a great place for after-work drinks, or to start the evening off before hitting the town hard. Bostonista’s hoping the locale generates enough hype to be next summer’s new nightlife hot-spot.

The Sports Club/LA
We attended a swanky party here this week for the launch of our September issue. We think signing up for a gym membership there is worth it (even if you already have one), just for the spectacular views (and no, we don’t mean the trainers—okay, maybe just a little!).

And if all else fails? Go find a friend with a roof deck.
