Store Opening: EyeSpot
By: Alexa Cleary
For those of us who are visually challenged, getting a pair of glasses is rarely a one-stop-shopping experience. But with the opening of optical concept shop EyeSpot’s new Chestnut Hill location on Friday, February 11, we of the myopia and hyperopia, astigmatisms, and glaucoma can visit an optometrist, ophthalmologist, and optician in one place — and score designer frames to boot.
The sleek, uncluttered setup features a huge, backlit wall full of stylin’ frames from the likes of Armani, Dior, and Jimmy Choo. Founding brothers Michael and Jorge Arroyo, an optician and ophthalmologist respectively, both worked together at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center before opening the shop.
Over the weekend, EyeSpot will be providing free retinal scans that can test for glaucoma and other eye conditions, and the shop will also raffle off a $200 gift certificate. As an added social media bonus, if you become a Facebook fan of EyeSpot, you’ll automatically be entered into raffle for a free pair of RayBan sunglasses. And thanks to some of the surrounding businesses like Aquitaine and Rosie’s Bakery, snacks and drinks will be available as well.
