Bruins Wives Charity Gala

It’s resort season, and many of us are itching to flee Boston’s arctic landscape. For those of us lucky enough to squeeze in a jaunt to a Caribbean destination, Saks has the solution for our wardrobe of down jackets and wool turtlenecks: The 2011 resort collection. Think Clementine-hued wrap dresses, buttery suede wedges, and minimalist string bikinis.

The wives and girlfriends of Bruins players kick off the Carnevale di Moda fashion show tomorrow evening at 7 p.m. at the Taj Boston, and will be strutting down the runway in lustworthy Italian designs from Prada, Missoni and Dolce & Gabbana – whose “ostentatious black floral chiffon gown” will highlight the show, according to Marianna Toroyan, owner of the company the Fashion Doctors, which is producing the show. After drooling over the duds, guests are invited to sample “carnevale” style fare including cotton candy martinis and spiced popcorn.

For those who fret that resort wear will only deepen an already entrenched seasonal depression, (lets face it, bikinis and carnival food don’t quite mix), remind yourself it’s for a good cause: All proceeds will benefit the Bruins Foundation, which contributes to youth-oriented community and athletic programs around the state. And VIP guests will score a swag bag filled with over $200 in goodies – we’re hoping some self tanner snuck its way in.

Tickets are $100 general admission, or $200 VIP, and are available online or by phone at 617-624-1889 .
