Street Style: Mad About Plaid

The mild weather of the last few weeks has, thankfully, allowed us to wear our favorite fashions before the messy Boston winter begins and we bundle up in our warmest winter coats and Hunter boots. Yesterday, I spotted Marianne Gianelli wearing a plaid Thakoon jacket, high-waist, coated J Brand jeans, and a champagne Mulberry bag. She finished the look with black aviators and Bordeaux Tory Burch flats. The jacket, which I instantly fell in love with (and would wear with pretty much anything from jeans or leather leggings to an LBD), was a perfectly appropriate topper for the warm weather at the start of the holiday season.

How would you describe style in Boston?
Underestimated. The GQ slander didn’t help our image, but Boston has so many fashionable people, even in the suburbs, who are never recognized. The success of stores on Newbury and surrounding is telling that there is a strong fashion market here. In terms of a fashion scene in Boston, it’s is only starting to take off. I think once that gains momentum, and Bostonians are given more opportunities to promote themselves and their creativity, we will begin to transform perceptions.
