The Hawthorne Hosts Holiday Market Popup Shop

For three Mondays in December, sip cocktails and shop local—at the same time.

Boston is famed for its many geniuses—for example, Tim Berners-Lee, who founded the World Wide Web Consortium at MIT; medical pioneer Susan Dimock; and Alexander Graham Bell, who taught at BU when he wasn’t busy inventing the telephone (or possibly swiping the idea from Antonio Meucci). We’d like to add to that list whoever came up with the brilliant idea to atom-smash together our favorite gift store with our favorite hotel bar.

Because that’s exactly what’s happening at the Hawthorne, a craft-cocktail-focused boite tucked inside Kenmore Square’s Hotel Commonwealth.

On Mondays in December, they’re hosting a Holiday Market pop-up, which invites small local shops and artisans to hawk their wares in the Hawthorne’s private event space, The Stone Room, a soothingly taupe, booze-filled chamber that is the very antithesis to the frenzy of the mall. While you tuck into complimentary seasonal refreshments, you can crush your holiday shopping as you peruse wares from the likes of E. Scott Originals Handmade Jewelry (whose Lil’ Love stud earrings and Beautiful Beast necklace you can see pictured above), Union Square gift shop Loyal Supply Co., and Davis Square’s Magpie, who’ll be peddling everything from artisanal soaps and caramels to Egg-A-Go-Go baby onesies.

Starting next week, they’re hosting the pop-ups on Mondays from 5 to 7 p.m. Check out the full lineup:
