Clarks America Inc. officially opens its new corporate headquarters in Waltham tomorrow, providing a modern update for the ever-popular footwear label.

Previously located in Newton Upper Falls for nearly 18 years, the company’s home is now the former Polaroid building at 60 Tower Road. The 120,000-square-foot, four-story office services the brand’s design and marketing operations as well as retail and wholesale business support. New additions include luxury amenities for more than 400 employees, such as a 5,000-foot private outdoor terrace, retail store, fitness center, and bike-sharing program. Both employee-friendly and eco-friendly, the expanded space is also LEED certified, built from recycled materials and featuring a solar-paneled roof.

Beyond its sleek glass exterior and contemporary furnishings, the rich history behind the site’s location pays homage to Clarks’ Boston-area roots and 191 years in business.

“As we looked to move to a new space, we knew we had to stay in the community that we have been a part of for so long,” says Clarks America senior VP of marketing Christopher Scinto. “The building itself is a local icon and its character speaks to the spirit of Clarks, and our dedication to craft and innovation.”

Clarks America is a subsidiary of footwear manufacturer C&J Clark Ltd. of Somerset, England, which operates in more than 100 countries worldwide. Known for its iconic Desert Boot, the Clarks brand retains a reputation for quality composition, classic aesthetics, and ultimate comfort in a repertoire of more than 22,000 styles.

Choose from an array of eclectic makes at any one of Clarks’ 11 Massachusetts locations, including those in downtown Boston and the Natick and Burlington malls.
