Critics say this city has no style. We’re here to prove them wrong. Welcome to HubThreads, where we chat with the most stylist people we find out and about in Boston. Think you or someone you know has the best street style? Let us know.
What do you do? I’m the store manager at Allen Edmonds.
What are you wearing? Ferragamo, Armani, and Banana Republic, so a mix and match.
How would you describe your style? Comfortable, but still professional enough for work. I think it’s a good middle way for people who come into the store. Some are in a suit and dressed and other people are more casual, so I think we try to be in the middle and everyone can relate to us.
Do you have any style icons? Not really, to be honest. I’m not really following people, necessarily. I go by more what I see in the street and what I feel comfortable in myself. Color, yes, matters a bit.
Where are you from? Austria.
How long have you been in Boston? About nine years now. It’s been a while.
Do you like it here? It’s not bad. It’s great because you’re able to walk the city, so that’s something I’m used to from at home. It’s a lot of fun, yeah.
What brought you here? I ran a computer business back at home and I wanted to expand that, but that was in 2008, so you can see where it changed a bit.
But you stayed. Yeah, I found a lot of friends here, a good group, so that’s why.
Do you go back and visit Austria lot? I try to go once a year. It’s important.
You probably still have family there. Exactly, yeah. It’s hard. Of course, I don’t have as much vacation here. It’s not as easy for me to say, “Oh, I’ll just take off for two weeks here and two weeks there.”
