Dr. Egilius Spierings recently joined Boston PainCare as medical director
of The Boston Headache Institute. He brought with him MedVadis
Research, a clinical-trial research center he founded in 1996 as Clinical
Headache Research Center. He is a neurologist with extensive training in
neurosurgery and psychiatry and fellowship training in headache management.
His expertise lies in the diagnosis and treatment of headache,
particularly migraine and face pain. Dr. Spierings directed headache
programs at Brigham and Women’s Hospital Neurology, Tufts Medical
Center Neurology, and Tufts Dental Craniofacial Pain Center. He is
a former associate clinical professor of neurology at Harvard Medical
School and a former clinical professor at Tufts University Schools of
Medicine and Dental Medicine. He was extensively involved in the
clinical development of the triptans and more recently with that of the
Nerve Blocks, Trigger Point injections, Botox and Medication to treat Migraines, Cluster Headaches, Cervicogenic Headaches, Occipital Headaches, Chronic Daily Headache, Medication Overuse Headache, Post-Traumatic Headache, Trigeminal Neuralgia and Atypical Facial Pain.
