I am a practicing family physician in the Boston/Cambridge area with over 15 years experience. I opened Wellscape Direct MD, a Direct Primary Care practice, to return to that “old-fashioned” feel of medicine - personalized care, direct communications with your doctor, a practice built around your convenience. With the use of modern technology, patients have the added convenience of virtual visits and the peace of mind of direct text messaging with their own physician. I value getting to know my patients as individuals, and working together to develop healthcare and wellness plans that best meet their goals and needs, including integration of Complementary and Western evidence-based medicines while taking into account the demands of our modern, busy lifestyles.
I'm happy to have an initial discussion on the phone or via email to answer immediate questions about the practice, but then prefer a face-to-face, "meet & greet" appointment (free-of-charge) in the office. During that visit, I can answer questions about how the practice works, review my background and practice style, and learn more about a patient's needs. In this way, we can mutually decide if the practice is a good "fit." Once a patient decides to join, we spend approximately 1-1.5 hours reviewing medical history, current concerns, and signing releases to obtain prior medical records for review.
I recommend a patient think about what goals they have for their healthcare, and how they prefer to meet those goals, and then look for a practice that best meets those needs. It might also be important to ask about accessibility to their primary care practitioner (PCP) - do they have availability when something comes up or will you see someone else in the practice or be referred to an urgent care? What happens when you have a follow-up question, how can you reach your PCP? What happens after hours if there is an emergency?
Although I was born and raised in the greater metropolis area of Chicago, my family maintained a small farm, which provided an amazing extra-curricular education. I learned to appreciate organic whole foods (and the work it took to produce and harvest them!), the flow and impact of the cycles of nature, and the wonders of the outdoors. I went on to earn a BA degree in Psychology from Earlham College (IN), a Quaker-based school that fostered my belief in treating others as equals, my commitment to social justice, and my desire to serve.
After spending some years in the workforce, traveling, and pursuing passions in Chinese Martial Arts and Medicine, I followed my childhood dream into medicine. I graduated from UMass Medical School in 1999, and completed training at Lawrence Family Medicine Residency, a program committed to providing care to underserved populations. That was the start of a broad base of experience throughout my career, which included a community health center; a small, private practice in a Boston suburb; and lastly, a larger, national organization in the heart of Boston.
Regardless of the setting in which I practiced, I sought to provide that “old-fashioned” patient-doctor relationship - one that is based on genuine caring, mutual respect, and mindful listening. I enjoy working with patients as collaborative partners to create individualized treatment plans and healthier lifestyle strategies. My early experiences with complementary therapies reinforced a holistic and integrative approach, including recognizing the potential value of “alternative” medical theories and treatments.
In keeping with this vision of primary care, I opened Wellscape Direct MD, my own Direct Primary Care practice, in downtown Boston in 2015. Goals at Wellscape Direct MD include not only treating and managing illnesses, but also partnering to optimize health and well-being.
I’m happy to share more information about my background, approach and Wellscape Direct MD, so please feel free to contact me!
I'm most excited to offer direct access and communications, so that we can build a trusting partnership to better serve each individual's healthcare needs.
A patient spontaneously breaking into tears because it was the first time she felt heard by a doctor.
Pricing is designed to be reasonable, transparent, and simple. It is akin to a gym membership, with a convenient online membership platform that does automatic withdrawals for billing. There are no hidden costs, no co-pays, no additional charges for any of the primary care services that I provide - it is all covered by the monthly membership fee.
Wellscape Direct MD opened in December 2015.
“Need a good DPCP? Look no further! Attentive and a great listener, Dr. Meyer is never rushed and takes the time to check back after appointments when issues are ongoing. She did a tremendous amount of research when my symptoms were puzzling and consulted more broadly. She cares, and her practice gives her time to practice the way medicine should be practiced. Kudos! 5 stars!”

“Linnea is among one of the kindest doctors I have ever met. She creates a sense of trust immediately, patient and calm while she listens without judgment. As a person of the LGBT community, she assisted with many qualms and was an ally through it all. From mental health, to sexual health or just the common cold. She is direct, easy to communicate with and above all else extremely helpful. I never felt like just another patient. I would recommend anyone who is in need of a new PCP to check her out!”

“Dr. Meyer is a fantastic, caring physician. I’ve been seeing her for about 10 years and she’s always courteous and spends a great deal of time with me. She listens really well and is thoughtful about my care. She always has responded promptly to my concerns and has helped me weather quite a few physical injuries and illnesses. I can’t recommend her highly enough!”
