What is your typical process for working with a new patient?

I serve all patients with head and neck cancers. The goal is to always have an honest discussion about prognosis and treatment with the patient in an expedited manner. Patient navigators and nurse coordinators are utilized to assist the patient. I believe that state of the art surgical skills, empathy, and multidisciplinary patient centered care is the most important ingredient in the successful treatment of head and neck cancers.

What inspired your passion for your profession?

I am an internationally renowned Head and Neck Surgeon with special expertise in removal and reconstruction of head and neck cancers, skin cancers, and thyroid cancers. I pioneered Robotic Surgery for the head and neck cancers in New England in 2007. This has enabled patients to have their surgery with minimal incisions. Patient navigators help with care coordination on my service. I am also engaged in clinical trials for head and neck cancers.

What makes your business stand apart?

My professional success is attributed to my belief in patient centric multidisciplinary care, striving for technical excellence and thinking outside the box. The application of robotic surgery for improving patient care has resulted in being able to reduce radiation therapy side effects on countless patients who come from the entire country and beyond. In addition I believe in education and research to impart the knowledge gained to the next generation of head and neck surgeons.
