Massachusetts Drops from Second to Fifth Healthiest State

Massachusetts Drops from Second to Fifth Healthiest State. The nation’s annual report card from the United Health Foundation just came out, and for the fifth year running, Vermont is still the healthiest state in the nation, followed by New Hampshire, Connecticut, Hawaii, and — now at spot No. 5 thanks to high rates of infectious disease, violent crime, and drinking — Massachusetts. The real bad news though is that the United States as a whole made no major gains in health this year, and collectively, we’re still way too heavy, we smoke too much, and we have too many cases of diabetes.
