What did your training regimen look like?
I typically run between 100-130 miles a week spread between 12-13 different runs (so doubling most days). Most runs are done at an easy pace with the exception of two workouts each week that are run with my teammates from the Boston Athletic Association (BAA). During those particular runs, we typically run longer intervals of 2-5 miles at a faster pace or go for a long run with some miles run at our desired marathon pace.
What was the hardest part of training?
Dealing with the snow and cold temps of a Boston winter.
What’s your favorite pre-race (night before) meal?
Chicken Pad Thai and brown rice.
What is your favorite post-race meal?
Pizza, beer, and ice cream from PICCO in the South End.
How will you stay motivated during the race?
Knowing that I will be seeing so many friends and family along the course including being able to give my nephew and niece a high five at mile 24.
Why do you run the Boston Marathon?
I have run marathons and other races all over the world and nothing compares with the excitement and prestige of the Boston Marathon. Living here and having my family and friends out on the course cheering me on only adds to that experience.
Do you have any racing superstitions?
What will you be doing the day after the Boston Marathon?
A pub crawl with my girlfriend, Amanda Allen, who is also running the marathon for Dana Farber.
