Burn Fitness in the South End has been under construction for some time. Passersby can see a gorgeous chandelier (there’s two) through the window and some signage, but not much else.

“Burn is so excited to be part of the South End neighborhood,” says co-owner and trainer Jonathan Cruz, who has been teaching group fitness classes in the Boston area for more than 15 years. “I’ve lived in the South End for the past 14 years and this type of boutique fitness studio is exactly what the residents want and need.”

Here’s what we know about the new fitness boutique:

Classes: Cruz says that Burn’s classes are specifically designed to include high-intensity interval training (HIIT), an exercise strategy that alternates periods of short intense anaerobic exercise with less-intense recovery periods. The intense workouts provide enhanced athletic performance, improved glucose metabolism, and efficient fat burning, he says. Classes will include: Bike (indoor cycling classes featuring Schwinn bikes); Indo-Row (a unique rowing class where you’ll work in teams); Tabata (a signature class featuring 20 second bouts of HIIT followed by 10 seconds of rest);  Circuit (a total-body workout featuring “extreme” cross-training); Power (focusing on strengthening, toning, and sculpting); and, of course, yoga.

“There is no other fitness studio in Boston that offers this wide of a variety of group exercises under one roof,” Cruz says. “We don’t yet have an exact opening date but hope that it will be very soon.” If you’re stalking from the street (like what we’ve been doing) it looks like the opening will be very soon, indeed.

Prices: Single classes are $25, or you can buy a 10-pack for $200. There’s also an unlimited month option for $180 or “auto-pay” (deducted monthly from your bank account) for $140. If you prefer a one-time fee, it’s $1,500 for one year unlimited. The are also pre-opening specials that you can buy now. The unlimited auto-pay option is only $99 (with a 12 month commitment) or the unlimited year is $999. Burn also offer what they call 1:1 Burn (personal training).
