Sweat and Soul Yoga Adds a New Yoga Room

The build-out was a much needed addition to the always-crowded studio.

It’a no secret that Back Bay Yoga and its sister studio in Allston, Sweat and Soul Yoga, are two of the most popular yoga spots in town, as evidenced by their always packed classes and top notch instructors. But when there’s barely any wiggle room between mats at your regular Saturday morning practice, something’s got to give. That’s why the studio has undergone a complete renovation and introduced a brand new yoga room.

“Our landlord constructed this new space entirely,” says owner Lynne Begier. “He started building the space last winter and asked us about taking it over so that our space would extend to the back of the building.”

The new yoga room has skylights, hardwood floors, and about 1500 square feet of practice space. The old yoga room will become the new cycle room—which features RealRyder bikes—after a minor painting and lighting reno.

“The old cycle room will become our new lounge area, and we also we have the added benefit of a dedicated shoe and coat room which is great in the winter,” Begier says. “Our main goal was to get more room and also we got a beautiful new space for yoga and cycle so we can spread it out a bit. Practicing under a skylight is pretty cool because you can see the sun during the day and the stars at night.”
