16 Fitness Classes Open On Thanksgiving Day

Head to one of these fitness classes to burn some calories before the festivities begin.

Every Thanksgiving, the average American eats an estimated 4,500 calories throughout the day. This year, instead of turning those calories into unwanted pounds, head to one of these 16 fitness studies open on Thanksgiving Day and get in a good sweat before (or after) the festivities begin.

1. SoulCycle
Get your spin on with special 90-minute “Turkey Burn” classes at 8 a.m. and 9:45 a.m.

2. Pure Barre 
This studio will hold their regular morning classes until 10:30 a.m.

3. YMCA of Greater Boston
Head to the YMCA for their 75-minute pre-turkey calorie burning spin class at 7:15 a.m. In addition to the spin class, the workout room will be open from 7 a.m to 11 a.m.

4. Barry’s Bootcamp
Get in a full body workout at a this extreme bootcamp class. Barry’s will hold three classes on Thanksgiving Day at 8:30 a.m., 9:45 a.m., and 11 a.m.

5. Ultimate Bootcamp
The 7th annual bootcamp in Boston Common is a 75-minute full body workout. All proceeds from the registration fee goes to the St. Francis House Day Shelter. The workout begins at 8:30 a.m.

6. Equinox
Thanksgiving morning, the Chestnut Hill location will have four classes available: a 45-minute Tabata class at 8 a.m.; a 60-minute studio cycling class at 8:30 a.m.; and a 60-minute athletic training course, called MetCon3, at 9 a.m.

7. Recycle Studio
Recycle will offer an alternative version to the traditional turkey trot: the “Bird Ride.” The studio will offer a hour long class at 8 a.m. and a 45-minute class at 9:30 a.m.

8. Boston Sports Clubs
The following clubs will be open from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving: Allston; Back Bay; Central Sq.; Clarendon St.; Dorchester; Fenway; Newbury St.; South End; Watertown.

9. Btone Fitness
Btone will have two classes available on Thanksgiving morning. Their signature 45-minute “Tone” class at 8:30 a.m. and the 45-minute “Tone n Blast” class at 9:30 a.m.

This spin studio will open their doors for one, 75-minute endurance ride, at 9 a.m.

12. The Z Spot
This studio is offering two Zumba classes. The first one will be held at 6 a.m., and the second is at 7:15 a.m.

13. Spynergy Cycling Studio
This Wellesley spin studio is presenting “Thanksgiving Day Cycling” classes throughout the morning. The 50-minute classes run at 6 a.m., 7:05 a.m., 8:10 a.m., 9:15 a.m., 10:20 a.m., and 11:25 a.m.

14. Exhale Boston Back Bay
Exhale Back Bay is offering the “Core Fusion Extreme” class at 6 a.m., the “Core Fusion Cardio” class at 7:30, and two “Core Fusion Barre” classes at both 7:45 a.m. and 9 a.m.

15. The Bar Method
Sweat, strengthen, and tuck at the Bar Method with their morning class at 7:15 a.m.

16. Endurance Pilates and Yoga
If you can’t make to it an early class, head to an evening workout class after dinner ends. This studio will be having a Pilates class at 6:30 p.m., an intro to barre class at 7:30 p.m., and a Pilates reformer class at 7:30 p.m.
