The Boston Marathon Now Has an Official Coffee Sponsor

And it's not Dunkin' Donuts! Say what?

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) announced this week that it has entered a partnership with Italian coffee roaster Lavazza to become the official coffee of the Boston Marathon. It’s a little surprising that it’s not Canton-based Dunkin’ Donuts, #amirite?

Lavazza coffee will be provided to runners at the Athletes’ Village in Hopkinton, at the pre-race pasta dinner, and at various B.A.A. events throughout the entire Boston Marathon weekend.

“Coffee is an important part of the race-day routine for thousands of runners, and certainly for Marathoners,” said B.A.A. Executive Director Tom Grilk in a statement. “To have a partnership with a world-famous brand is immensely gratifying, and Lavazza’s engagement with our runners will have a positive impact on our runners’ experience in Boston.”

To celebrate the new partnership, and I can only assume to introduce themselves to Boston residents, Lavazza is offering Boston runners 20 percent off any ShopLavazza.com purchase through May 31 by using promo code “Lavazzarun.”
