Let the free outdoor fitness classes begin!

In the summer, the city of Boston turns into an outdoor gym—a free gym—with many parks and organizations offering classes that rival any paid studio. The Esplanade Association is the first to announce its free fitness lineup for the summer of 2015. The beloved park offers five miles of pathways, five docks, three playgrounds (each designed for a specific age group), exercise courses, Fielder Field, the Hatch Shell, Teddy Ebersol’s Red Sox Fields, tennis courts, and the BU Sailing Pavilion and Community Boating. Everyone in the city is a fan—even Gisele’s Instagram feed is filled with Esplanade shots.

The Esplanade Association’s free fitness series is called, “Healthy, Fit & Fun.” It launches July 9 and runs through September 19. It will include a run club, Zumba at the Hatch Shell, and yoga and CrossFit at Fiedler Field. Last year, more than 5,000 people participated.
