Boston-Area Dentists To Offer Free Dental Care Throughout The Year

Several local practices are partnering with the nonprofit Dentistry From the Heart.


Update: Almost 20 Boston-area Aspen Dental offices will offer free dental care to veterans on June 27. The day of free service is part of Aspen’s Healthy Mouth Movement, an initiative aimed at bringing dentistry to those in need.

Going to the dentist is quite possibly the most universally hated activity of all time—but that doesn’t make it any less necessary. And for the approximately 108 million Americans without dental insurance, that can be a problem.

As of 2014, 40 percent of people polled by the American Dental Association said cost was or would be their primary reason for not going to the dentist. Enter Dentistry From the Heart (DFH), a 14-year-old nonprofit organization that encourages practices across the world to offer free dental care every year. Since its founding, DFH has provided free care to 55,000 Americans in need, totaling $11 million worth of treatments.
