Though it hardly feels like the North Pole outside, Christmas came to Shriners Hospital for Children Wednesday.
For the 13th year, the Boston Firefighters Burn Foundation (BFFBF), a non-profit made up of Boston firefighters supporting burn victims and their families, brought Santa Claus—via fire ladder—to the hospital. In an announcement, Taylor Pennelli, Shriners’ manager of therapeutic services, said it’s a tradition that began with a simple goal: to brighten the days of kids overcoming huge obstacles.
“Christmas in July is one of the highlights of the year here at the hospital,” said Taylor Pennelli, manager of Therapeutic Services, Shriners Hospitals for Children — Boston. “Many of our patients are dealing with significant physical and emotional scars and this event is a chance for them to have fun and just be kids.”
