Starbucks Is Changing Its Pumpkin Spice Latte Recipe
Once the calendar hit August, the whole “fall is coming” thing took over our TV screens, smartphones, and even radio commercials. Yeah, we get it. Fall is coming. But considering it’s going to be in the 80s for at least the next week or so, I’m going to say it: Stop trying to make fall happen! Let us enjoy the last few weeks of summer!
But now, there’s no way to avoid the “seasons are changing” coverage: Starbucks has announced it is changing its pumpkin spice latte (PSL) recipe.
The company announced on its blog that the new PSLs will be made with real pumpkin and without caramel coloring.
After hearing from customers and partners about ingredients, we took another look at this beverage and why we created it so many years ago. It was simple – espresso, perfectly steamed milk, warm fall spices with delicious flavor of pumpkin pie that reminds you of the cool, crisp days of autumn. So, with that great taste you know and love, the PSL returns this fall, and this time it will be made with real pumpkin and without caramel coloring.
Whether you love the popular lattes (Starbucks has sold more than 200 million PSLs since 2003), hate them, or secretly chug them in your car so that no one knows how much you actually order the delicious treat (you know who you are), the new latte recipe launches in the fall.
Starbucks released the new ingredient list, which you can view below. The real test will come when it’s PSL season. But for now, enjoy the last few weeks of summer, and if you see anything pumpkin spice anywhere, do what I do: Yell, “Too soon!” and run away.
