The days of yoga being synonymous with Enya and incense are long behind us—just ask the students in your neighborhood hip hop or rock ‘n’ roll yoga class. Need more proof? Check out Soul Pose, a unique yoga event coming to Waltham.

Part block party, part all-levels yoga class, Soul Pose travels around the country bringing what they call “Freaking. Awesome. Yoga.” to the masses, complete with bubbles, confetti, upbeat music, and after parties. The Boston-area event will be held Sept. 19 in Waltham, featuring a daytime session and an evening black light session.

Bringing friends is encouraged, and the organizers stress that no yoga experience is required. (They even break down poses on their website.) It’s all about loving your body and having fun, rather than getting each pose exactly right.

Sept. 19, Gore Place Estate, 52 Gore St., Waltham; Day light session begins at 11:30 a.m.; black light session at 7 p.m; $19.50 for the class, or $35 ($29.50 per person if you go with at least three friends) for class, mat, and towel; soulpose.com.
