As of today, popular sister yoga studios Back Bay Yoga and Sweat and Soul Yoga will become part of national chain YogaWorks, making them the first two YogaWorks studios in Massachusetts.

Owner Lynne Begier announced the change this morning in an email sent to students. As a result of the shift, both studios’ names will change to YogaWorks, and Sweat and Soul will end its cycling program on Sept. 30. Sweat and Soul’s cycling room will be converted to another yoga room, and, after a minor renovation, the studio will add new classes including Pilates, TRX, and YogaWorks’ signature barre and strength training classes.

Despite those programming adjustments, Begier’s email specified that all current Back Bay and Sweat and Soul teachers will remain on the schedule and existing memberships and class packages will work as normal. All current students will also receive a free month of YogaWorks’ online, subscription-based video yoga classes.

In her email, Begier said the transition is a result of her desire to expand the studios:

“I have wanted to expand the business and secure a long lasting presence in Boston, but I knew that dream was best realized with a larger team whose commitment and dedication would make it a reality. I chose YogaWorks as the ideal partner for our students and teachers because they share the same value of high quality instruction as well as the belief that yoga studios should offer an eclectic mix of classes to meet the broad range of student needs and desires.”
