Get Your Free Fitness On at These Gym Open Houses
After a summer packed with free fitness, unfreezing your gym membership and ponying up for full-price class packs can be rough. Luckily, four local gyms and studios are here to ease the transition.
Healthworks, Republic Fitness, Barre & Soul, and the Dance Complex all have October open houses coming up, and, believe us, they are gold mines of free fitness. Here’s what you can expect.
When: October 17-23
Where: Back Bay (441 Stuart St.), Cambridge (35 White St.), Coolidge Corner (325 Harvard St.), and Chestnut Hill (1300 Boylston St.) locations
What: The women-only gym is offering a huge range of free classes at each of its four Boston locations. There are too many to list—seriously, each location has at least one free class per day, and some boast as many as six per day—but highlights include:
- Glow-in-the-dark cycle (10/17, 12:15 p.m., Back Bay)
- Disco step class (10/18, 8:30 a.m., Chestnut Hill)
- Jay Z vs. Beyoncé bootcamp (10/18, 5:15 p.m., Coolidge Corner)
- ’90s hip hop yoga (10/19, 5:30 p.m., Cambridge)
- Spa yoga (10/20, 11 a.m., Cambridge)
- Pump and Prosecco (10/20, 5:30 p.m., Back Bay)

Where: Two International Place, Boston
What: The gym is offering a full week of free classes, from cycling set to music videos to ’90s music yoga sculpt. Hurry, because spots are going fast.

Barre & Soul
When: October 22
Where: 36 JFK St., Cambridge
What: The yoga and barre studio is offering a morning of free classes at its Harvard Square location.

The Dance Complex
When: October 24-30
Where: 536 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge
What: Dancers of all levels are invited to get grooving at the Dance Complex’s open house. Try styles including ballet, jazz, BollyX, belly dancing, African, and more, free of charge.
