Beth Israel Deaconess Took On the Mannequin Challenge

Check out the hospital's take on the social media craze.

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is out to prove it’s the pop culture-savviest hospital in Boston.

After releasing a much-watched, maddeningly catchy Taylor Swift parody last year, BIDMC is at it again. The hospital hopped on the social media bandwagon Wednesday with an impressive take on the Mannequin Challenge.

If you’ve been living in a social media-free cave lately—honestly, lucky you—the Mannequin Challenge is, well, pretty much what it sounds like.

Everyone drops whatever they’re doing and stands stock-still, like a mannequin, for about a minute, while a camera moves through the eerily motionless space. Rae Sremmurd’s “Black Beatles” usually plays in the background, though BIDMC went literal with a song about freezing like a mannequin. According to internet lore, a group of Florida high schoolers started the craze.
