The Boston Run Returns This Weekend

The race's course spells out "Boston."

The Boston Marathon may be getting all the attention this week, but there’s another upcoming run you should have on your radar.

Zoom Multisport, a local triathlon team, is hosting its fifth annual Boston Run on Saturday. How is this different from the dozens and dozens of other local road races, you ask? To hammer home the group’s intent to honor Boston Marathon bombing survivors and celebrate the local running community, the race’s route actually spells out the name of our fair city. (See the above graphic.)

You’ll cover roughly 4.5 miles as you weave your way through the Back Bay, traveling from Charlesgate to Arlington Street. Race regulars will notice that the course is slightly different this year, due to street closures in place for that day’s Boston Athletic Association 5K.

And because the streets must be cleared before the 5K, you’ll have to rise and grind if you want to participate. The Boston Run begins at 6:30 a.m. sharp—so you’d better set your alarms now.

Free, 4/15, 6:30 a.m. Begins at Charlesgate Road, Boston. Register at eventbrite.com.
