Boston has absolutely no shortage of juice bars—quite the opposite, if anything. But a new spot rolling into Jamaica Plain this fall looks worthy of a little buzz.

Juicygreens is the brainchild of husband-and-wife duo Mike and Ammy Lowney. Mike is a family medicine doctor with a practice in Hyde Park, while Ammy is a former Boston Public Schools high school teacher. Both have a passion for healthy living, and want to spread those values to the JP community.

“I’ve come to realize that there’s a lot more to health than medicine,” Mike Lowney told the Jamaica Plain News. “Food is the start of what we put in our bodies.”

As such, the food at Juicygreens will surpass standard juice bar fare. In addition to smoothies and cold-pressed juices, the shop will offer homemade nut milks, salads, toasts, acai bowls, Buddha bowls, soups, and coffee from local roasters. Everything on the menu is plant-forward.

The Westwood couple is aiming to open Juicygreens by November of this year. It will inhabit part of the old Harvest Co-op space on South Street.

Juicygreens, coming soon to 57 South St., Jamaica Plain, juicygreensboston.com.
