Four Healthy Ways to Contribute to Hurricane Relief
As Puerto Rico and its neighbors in the Caribbean rebuild after devastating hurricanes, many of us are looking for ways to give back. While you can donate directly to efforts like the Massachusetts United for Puerto Rico fund, the local health and fitness community has also stepped up to help. Here, four healthy hurricane relief events you can attend this month:
Pilates for Puerto Rico: Endurance Pilates and Yoga is hosting an outdoor benefit class in Blackstone Park on October 6. You’ll get a great workout for your core, lower body, and triceps, while 100 percent of the proceeds go to the AmeriCares Hurricane Maria Emergency Relief fund.

Trillfit for Puerto Rico: On October 9, Trillfit is hosting a free version of its signature cardio dance class in Evans Way Park. It will be set to a soundtrack of music by Puerto Rican artists, and the brand will donate $1 per attendee to Massachusetts United for Puerto Rico. Plus, during the entire month of October, students who bring in proof of donation to the relief efforts will get a free class at Trillfit’s downtown Boston studio.

Sports Massage Marathon: Your self-care routine can benefit others, thanks to this initiative sponsored by Everett’s E-Motion Sports Massage. The studio is offering $20, 20-minute sports massages on October 21 and 28, with money going to the Red Cross’ Puerto Rico relief fund.

Charity Spin Class: On October 21, Turnstyle’s South End studio is hosting a charity Spin class that benefits Waves for Water, a charity helping to bring clean drinking water to Caribbean islands that are recovering from hurricane damage.
