Goal-driven and passionate, this personal trainer turned gym owner is carving out a niche in the group fitness landscape. Ray Peleckas is the founder and owner of Burnin’ By Ray in Belmont, with a new location coming to the Seaport in August. His philosophy hinges on individualized, low-impact high-intensity group training, allowing his clients to work out hard without achy joints or injuries. Peleckas is an avid supporter of community fitness events and is a regular contributor to Men’s Health. He currently takes one to two Burnin’ By Ray classes every day, and says he is training for something very specific and substantial—life!

What He Ate:

Like most people, Peleckas is super busy, so he says having a quick and healthy breakfast is key. His go-to meal of choice is cinnamon apple protein pancakes with a side of fresh fruit from Prepped Gainz. The pancakes are made with oats, fresh apple, unsweetened apple sauce, cinnamon, and egg whites all mixed in a bowl and cooked in a pan.

Why He Chose It:

“Eating a well balanced breakfast sets the tone for my day,” Peleckas says. “To me, fitness is much more than just a workout—it’s a lifestyle. Starting my day on the right track sets me up for success and helps me to avoid unhealthy temptation.”

He advises people to not overcomplicate their breakfasts or get overwhelmed by all the nutrition information out there and to stick to the basics.

“Nutrition plays a vital role in my lifestyle and has proved to be ever so true as I’ve approached my late 30s. In my 20s I would eat healthy just to look good. Now, I use proper nutrition to help my body feel better. I have less aches and pains and I recover faster while improving my focus and mood throughout the day.”
