Celebrate International Yoga Day with these Five Events Around Boston

Get ready for 108 sun salutations.

This year, International Yoga Day just so happens to land on the Summer Solstice, making for the longest day of the year and an extra special day for yogis, as it’s common practice to perform 108 sun salutations when the seasons change.

Come together with fellow yogis this Thursday to celebrate the power of yoga, community, and all-around wellness through movement.

Yoga Day Boston 

Join Yoga for Humanity and YogaHub at Copley Square, where there will be a wellness marketplace starting at 4:30 p.m. with vendors, brands, and organizations to peruse. Then, from 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. roll out your yoga mat for a free, one hour, all levels vinyasa class taught by Ali Singer, YogaHub founder. Registration is recommended to help estimate the crowd.

Kimpton Marlowe Yoga Day 

Choose from five completely different,yoga classes happening throughout the day at the Kimpton Marlowe hosted by Candace Moore of YogaByCandace. Classes include a slow sunrise morning yoga flow, paddle board yoga, outdoor power vinyasa set to live music, hip opening aromatherapy yoga, and a blacklight flow and glo yoga class. Each class is $20 and an hour long.

World Yoga Day with Athleta 

Are you happy? Are you doing what you love? Are you creating a life you love? These are the questions Sara DiVello will help you explore as she leads you through a gentle yoga class in the Public Garden. The event starts at Athleta on Newbury Street before heading over to the Garden and will end at the store with refreshments as well as giveaways including free weekend passes to the Nantucket Yoga Festival on July 6-8 and Cape Cod’s Love Yoga Fest on September 21-23 as well as gift cards to Athleta.

Yoga Around Town

Join Aly Ramer on the Greenway for a special summer solstice Yoga Around Town event. The flow will be an all-levels vinyasa for 60-minutes followed by an afterparty at Central Wharf Co.

Sunrise Yoga Series 

Practice yoga at the Museum of Science to celebrate the Summer Solstice and International Yoga Day. All funds raised will support the Museum’s Annual Fund. The classes are 50 minutes each and will take place at 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. in the museum’s lobby.
