If you’ve never succumbed to a Btone Fitness class, you have to try it to really know what it feels like. The signature Pilates-inspired workout, designed by owner Jody Merrill, utilizes slow movements on a spring loaded reformer (called “Toney”—get it?) to build strong, supple muscles and leaves you pretty darn sore and worked afterwards.

The studio, with locations already all around the city and beyond, is now making an appearance in Waltham, with a new studio opening today.

“Btone almost opened in Waltham years ago since it’s where I grew up,” Merrill said in a release. “When that studio deal fell apart because of zoning issues, I knew that was not the end for us and Waltham. As soon as this franchising deal was in place, Waltham was a no-brainer given the support that community has given to me throughout my life.”

The new location will be owned by Jamie Barry, who has been an employee of Btone for years. “Jamie was the perfect franchisee to open our first franchise location. She pulled out all the stops for this new studio with some amazing details when it comes to decor and overall comfort for our clients. She thought of everything,” Merrill explained in the release.

The studio will feature 10 Toneys and rowing machines will be added in the future for their circuit row classes, utilizing rowing intervals and strength moves on the mat. Early morning classes will start at 5:45 a.m. and eight classes will be offered throughout the day. The space will be open on weekends and childcare will be offered multiple times throughout the week. Centrally located on the corner of Main Street and Moody Street, Merrill says “it’s win-win for everyone on so many different levels, and I couldn’t be more excited.”
