Cozy Up With One of These Homemade Tea Recipes

These homemade tea recipes are made with ingredients like rose petals, fresh ginger, and CBD.

After a long day, there’s nothing more relaxing than curling up with a good book and a steaming cup of tea. Not only is tea great to keep warm during frigid Boston winters, but it’s also full of health benefits. Green tea and black tea have been found to have anti-aging, anti-diabetic, and even cancer-preventative properties, while herbal tea may also have additional health benefits.

Instead of buying a five dollar tea latte from Starbucks this week, mix up your tea routine and try one of these homemade tea recipes.

This creamy tea can be used to soothe sickness and help with sleep. The tea is made with only four ingredients: milk of your choice (although almond is recommended), cinnamon, ginger, and raw honey.

This tea latte gets its frothiness from blending the tea and almond milk together. The recipe provides two ways to get the peppermint flavor from this latte—through a peppermint tea bag or peppermint essential oils. If you’re using essential oils, just make sure they’re high quality and edible.

If you’re struggling to fall asleep at night, this tea is a good pre-bedtime drink. Blue matcha, chamomile tea, and lavender are steeped together and CBD is added to help induce sleep. Almond milk and blue spirulina give the tea its creaminess and beautiful blue hue.

Fresh fruit, such as oranges, strawberries, and apples, dried roses, and white tea are used to make this concoction. While the recipe calls for a dehydrator to dry the fruit, you can also use store-bought dry fruit as long as it’s high quality and there’s no added sugar.

Chamomile is known for its relaxation benefits, and if you use warm cow’s milk in this latte recipe, that will add to the relaxation benefits and help make you sleepy. Ground cinnamon is used to top the tea, but feel free to use nutmeg, allspice, or whatever spice you prefer.

Ginger helps settle the stomach, so this tea is a great option if you’re having digestive troubles or feeling sick. This recipe uses all fresh ingredients that are steeped together and then strained using a french press. Mix some lemon and honey into the tea for a hint of sweetness.

Cinnamon and cloves give this tea the holiday flavor that gives it its name. While the recipe calls for three cups of sugar, I’d recommend lowering that to only one, or none at all, since the pineapple and orange juice will help with the sweetness. Garnish each cup with a cinnamon stick and an orange slice.

Rose petals are the main ingredient in this tea latte and provide a light, herbal taste. To get the pink color, beet powder is used as a natural food coloring. Maple syrup is used as the sweetener, but feel free to use a sweetener of your choice.
