Whip out the long johns, find your ear warmers, and bundle in layers—the Esplanade Association’s free outdoor fitness series is back.

Beginning February 3, the Esplanade Association is hosting weekly workouts, which will take place every Monday at 6:30 a.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m. On Mondays the run club November Project will lead the show, putting participants through running drills and body weight exercises.

New participants Lynx Fitness Club join with high-intensity interval training classes, including body weight strength training and short bursts of cardio.

Even better, if you’re one to brave the cold in the early morning and get a workout in, your efforts will be rewarded with free swag like gloves and neck warmers as well as breakfast snacks and hot drinks. Staying warm and cozy in bed might seem better in the moment, but exercise will make you feel better in the long run—promise. Studies prove it, too.

But if you just can’t seem to get outside in the cold months, there are at-home exercises you can do like this quick circuit. And if your energy levels are affected by the dark, boost them around lunchtime with these studios and gyms offering lunchtime workouts. Take time for yourself and reap the benefits of a sound mind and body.

Also of note this year: The Boston Parks are hosting a free winter fitness series, and this one is indoors. It’s full of many different classes, including zumba, chair yoga, strength training, and more.

To register for the Esplanade Associations free winter fitness series, visit their website. Workouts take place from February 3-March 28. Hopefully come March it will be a tad warmer and the sun will stay out just a bit longer—we could all use it.
