On Saturday, May 5, 2018, the American Heart Association welcomed more than 400 guests to the Boston Heart & Stroke Ball at the Westin Boston Waterfront. The annual gala celebrated the American Heart Association’s mission, donors, and volunteers–and, most importantly, the survivors of heart disease and stroke. It raised $1 million for future research and preventive education.

This year’s campaign was chaired by Joseph Loscalzo, MD, of Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Jane Newburger, MD, of Boston Children’s Hospital, received the Paul Dudley White Award. Emcee Maria Stephanos, of WCVB NewsCenter 5, helped conduct a spectacular live auction. A highlight of the evening was the story of Ashley Lucchese, of Salem, whose life was saved by CPR after she suffered cardiac arrest last year.
