On Tuesday April 30, 2019, 352 guests attended the 8th annual eat LUNCH give event at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel, raising over $307,000 for Women’s Lunch Place (WLP). Hunger is the primary reason women first visit WLP to eat a hearty and healthy meal in a supportive, safe community. Food security is often the first step towards stability and solving other longer-term challenges. Once wellness and dignity are restored, women are motivated to work towards a better life.
The 2019 Women Who Give Award was presented to Jody Adams. She joined past honorees who set an inspiring example of women supporting women in the Boston community. Jody is a two-time James Beard award-winning chef and restaurateur with a strong commitment to hunger relief and donates her time to WLP as a weekly kitchen volunteer.
Women’s Lunch Place helps the most vulnerable women in the Greater Boston area. This year, they served over 106,201 meals and provided assistance to over 1,400 women. This event is critical to ensuring that Women’s Lunch Place can continue to meet the increasing requests for help from women in need.
