On May 2, 826 Boston welcomed 450 supporters at Night of 1,000 Stories, where they heard from 826 Boston student authors as well as featured author Stephen King. The event was attended by literati including Andre Dubus III and 826 National co-founder Dave Eggers. Night of 1,000 Stories was produced by AE Events and was held at the Royal Sonesta Hotel. The event raised nearly $500,000 for the organization’s free youth writing programs. The event also showcased emerging authors in Boston Public Schools, where 826 Boston is expanding its Writers’ Room program. Stephen King closed the night out with an inspiring testament to the power of writing: “Words were my ticket out.”
