The Jon Keller Situation

Just talked to WBZ political reporter Jon Keller, who has come under fire by the Herald for, the paper claims, lifting direct quotes without attribution and then using them in his new book The Bluest State. Keller says his publisher is about to release a statement, and that he’ll have further comment on the allegations thereafter.

Full disclosure: Keller has been a contributor to this magazine. That said, we’re thinking along the lines of Dan Kennedy on this one: Keller is the preeminent political journalist in Boston, and has been for some time. At first glance, this looks bad for Keller, but we have a hard time believing that his intention was to mislead his readers or take credit for someone else’s reporting.
