Is Curt Schilling Done?
The word is out that Curt Schilling will not be ready for the start of spring training thanks to a shoulder injury, and he is apparently in a fight with the team about how best to proceed medically. The Red Sox, according to the Herald, went so far as to inquire about voiding his contract.
Schilling’s shoulder injury, according to the Globe, is far worse than the one that shut him down for seven weeks during the season and robbed him of his top-end velocity. The dispute between Schilling and the team centers around whether he should have surgery. Schilling’s doctor, Craig Morgan, is said to be in favor of it, while the team is thought to be opposed.
So far no one is talking: not even Schilling. On his blog, 38 pitches, Schilling has a note congratulating John McCain on his Super Tuesday showing, as well as a terrific story about newly-signed Sean Casey.
There has been no comment from the team either.
