Breaking: New York Governor to Resign

MSNBC reports that New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer will announce his resignation at 11:30 a.m. press conference, although the timing is fluid.

Since the news broke on Monday of the governor’s involvement with a prostitution ring, the media and most of his congressional colleagues have been calling for Spitzer’s resignation. The New York Post created the best front page since the Herald’s “Sex, Guns, and BPD” marvel.Adding to the ridiculousness-factor Spitzer’s wife has been dragged into the middle of the fight, with Dr. Laura Schlessinger, of all people, blaming Silda Spitzer for her husband’s $80,000 hooker tab.

This is a stunning downfall for the Harvard Law grad who had been seen as a rising star in the Democratic party.
