Rick Pitino Runs on 17 Dunkin’ Donuts

1204563583When last we saw Rick Pitino in these parts he was dragging the Celtics through the rabbit hole and informing us that our negativity “sucked,” which was nice of him. But, the former Celtic, and Providence College, coach did take one thing with him from his time in New England: A love of Dunkin’ Donuts.

The now Louisville coach will open 17 Dunkin’ Donuts locations in Kentucky, with some of his former players including Tommy Heinsohn’s favorite 11th man: Walter McCarty.

Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino and two of his former Kentucky stars, Jamal Mashburn and Walter McCarty, hope Dunkin’ Donuts franchises in Central Kentucky amount to a slam dunk business venture.

The name of their partnership? Fast Break Donuts LLC. Har har.

We’d like to applaud Pitino and his players for preaching the gospel to our friends in the South. Kentucky’s Lexington-Herald Leader had to explain what Dunkin’ Donuts is for its readers.

The Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants, specializing in coffee and bakery goods, will include a variety of designs, including free-standing stores, sites inside shopping centers and counters in convenience stores.

You do the Lord’s work, Coach. Just make sure you don’t encroach on fellow sports star and Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee Mark Bellhorn’s territory.
