Breaking: Charges Against Patrick Aide Dropped

When the news of Eliot Spitzer’s high-priced affair with prostitute and wannabe pop star Ashley Alexandra Dupre broke last week, it overshadowed the news that the charges against Gov. Deval Patrick’s assistant secretary for policy and planning had been postponed. Since we were in a cynical mood, we figured that meant the authorities in Florida were really making sure they had all the details of Carl Stanley McGee’s alleged crime in order.

Turns out, they didn’t have much to work with. The charges against McGee were dropped.

Police alleged that McGee had performed oral sex on a 15-year-old boy at a Florida resort back in December. They were mum on what exactly went wrong with the case, but McGee’s attorney is pleased with the result.

“The State Attorney in Lee County, Florida, after a thorough investigation, has decided that no charges should be brought against Stan McGee,” said attorney Chrales Rankin, who represents McGee. “Mr. McGee believes the decision by the Florida prosecutor not to pursue this case speaks for itself, and he looks forward to going on with his life.”
