Is Steven Tyler Living on the Edge?

1211466793Late yesterday afternoon, TMZ.com reported that bad boy from Boston Steven Tyler had checked himself into Las Encinas Hospital’s rehab program. This morning, both the Herald and the Globe picked up the report, although no official word has come from Tyler’s reps yet.

If true, it’s sad news for the 60-year-old rock legend, who’s battled addiction for years and has invested time and money in helping other musicians get clean, as the Globe points out.

In 2001, the same year the Boston-based band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Tyler had a wing at a Roxbury rehab clinic center named in his honor for his financial and outspoken support of Victory Programs.

The Herald says that the singer’s friends cite the combination of Tyler’s hard-partying girlfriend and poor health may be the cause of the alleged relapse.

[Erin] Brady, a 30-something rocker chick and former Clear Channel tour accountant, seemed to embrace the rock ’n’ roll lifestyle with a vengeance. In December, she brawled with a tribal VIP’s daughter at the Florida Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino during a night of wild partying with Tyler.

Steven sent her packing after the nightclub incident, much to the relief of some of his pals. But the pair reunited shortly thereafter.

Whatever’s going on, we hope Tyler is getting any help he may need.
