This Year, The Fireworks on CBS Will Definitely, Absolutely Be Real. “Overall, this marks 39 years that the show has been broadcast, and we try different things all the time,” David Mugar, whose production company works with CBS to televise the fireworks, said about last year’s notoriously fake insertion of Boston landmarks (Fenway Park?! City Hall?!) against the fireworks on the Charles. “This is one we shouldn’t have tried. We meant well. Like I said before, we thought it would be a great way to showcase Boston’s many historical structures on the most patriotic day of the year and during the best fireworks show of the year, but people didn’t like it. Aly Raisman, of Needham, Will Compete at London Olympics. So the beard worked out well for Richard Costello, of Chatham, who beat out 86 wannabe Hemingway lookalikes to win the Virtual “Papa” Hemingway Look-Alike Contest.
