Red Sox Rumor Mill Continues to Churn

On July 26, team owners held a series of meetings with manager Bobby Valentine and some of the players in New York, during which they voiced concerns over the state of the team and their relationship with Valentine, a source told the Globe. Though Dustin Pedroia has denied the claim that players called for Valentine’s firing—“We have no idea where this stuff comes from. I just hope it’s not one of our teammates spreading stuff like that”—Yahoo! Sports is reporting that three sources familiar with the meeting stated that Pedroia was among the most vocal, and that players said outright that they no longer wanted to play for Valentine.
