New England's Passion for the Patriots Rivaled Only by Apathy for College Football

ESPN polled readers to find out whether they are more excited about the NFL or the college football season, and predictably, New Englanders are pretty heavily pro-NFL. 86 percent of Massachusetts respondents are more excited about the pro season than the college season. On the other end, 81 percent of Alabama residents are excited about college. So what does it mean that Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire have the highest three ratios of pro versus college respondents of all the states? Why, it means that our passion for the Patriots is paralleled only by our deep apathy for our college teams. We’re a region of extremes, apparently. [ESPN]
