The New MBTA Manager Should Probably Meet Terry Francona

After a year-long vacancy, the position of MBTA general manager will be taken on by Beverly A. Scott, formerly the head of Atlanta’s transit system. What with a very, uh, vocal population here in Boston, the position can be a very stressful one. That’s a point the former GM and current transportation secretary Richard A. Davey tried to communicate to her. From the Globe‘s report today:

Davey likened it to managing the Red Sox, asking Scott if she knew of Terry Francona, the celebrated-and-then-deposed Sox skipper. She did not.

Let’s hope there won’t be much occasion to draw that analogy again once Scott comes on board, but at any rate, welcome to Boston, Ms. Scott! [The Globe]
