Debate: Romney's Record on Coal in Massachusetts

In the second debate, President Obama hit Mitt Romney for promoting coal energy despite a tough stance on it during his governorship. Specifically, Obama accused him of standing outside a coal plant in Salem and saying, “That plant kills people.” This is true, as Politifact noted in August, when Obama’s campaign pointed out the same thing. The fact-checkers add:

And the power plant that he considered deadly had emissions that were no worse, and in many cases lower, than at Midwest plants that he would now wants left alone, citing the use of affordable and abundant coal.

Here’s video of Romney speaking at the plant from Think Progress.
