Cold Weather Made It Awfully Hard to Get to Work Today

Today’s 7 degree low in Boston marked the coldest temperature the city has seen in nearly a year, and our many means of transit were apparently getting a little used to the balmy weather, because the morning commute was kind of a nightmare as a result. Boston.com reports that 20 commuter rail trains saw delays because the temperature shut down their signals. Several school busses wouldn’t start this morning. Universal Hub has documented the woes of T riders, who reported delays do to “dead trains” on the Red, Green, and Blue lines. Furthering our woes, this afternoon, the MBTA reports that track repairs at Central Station will require bus service between Kendall and Harvard.

Don’t forget your booties ’cause it’s cooold out there today … And you might be standing on a T platform for a while.
