If You Find Dennis Lehane's Beagle, He'll Put You In His Next Book
Dennis Lehane’s beagle Tessa has been missing since Christmas Eve, and the author’s been leveraging social media to find her like only a celebrity can. “Our recent and beloved rescue dog, Tessa, jumped the fence in Brookline and has been roaming through the wilds of Coolidge Corner for the last 24 hours,” he wrote on Facebook Christmas day.
She’s smart, fast, and immeasurably sweet. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. She’s micro-chipped, but her tags were off when she was let out into the yard. Naming of character in the next book for anyone who gets her back to us! (No, really!) Again–Tessa, black-and-tan Beagle, 24 hours on the lam, sweet as all hell. Thank you!
Since then, Lehane or his assistant have posted to Facebook and Twitter dozens of times with posters, updates and more guidance on how the many fans who have responded can help. Coincidentally, Lehane’s next project is a screenplay based on a short story he wrote called Animal Rescue which is, in part, about a lost dog, according to IMDB.
At any rate, take note, Boston: If you’ve seen a beagle in Brookline, eternal fame just might be in your reach.
