John Kerry Is Really, Truly Your Secretary of State

His confirmation has been a foregone conclusion, but the Senate made it official today.

The U.S. Senate confirmed John Kerry as the newest Secretary of State in a landslide 94-3 vote. Senators Ted and Cruz John Cornyn of Texas as well as Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma voted against Kerry, winning them some press as notable outliers, but not much else, as this confirmation has been a foregone conclusion for a while now. There was one vote of “present” from another wishy-washy Senator John Kerry himself. The Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved Kerry's nomination earlier in the day after a fairly chummy question and answer session last week.
